On Saturday 17th September, the cream of English traditional dancers will be parading along Carolgate in the north Nottinghamshire market town of Retford at 10.30 am and then dancing in and around the town centre until 12.30.
The hosts are Duke’s Dandy Step Clog team, based in Retford, whose guests include local side, Rattlejag Morris, Wakefield Morris, Kesteven Morris (Sleaford), and The Flag and Bone Gang (Harrogate), each team very different from the others and showing the diversity, creativity and liveliness of English traditional dance at its best.

In the afternoon, they will all be performing in the Abbey courtyard at Rufford Country Park, near Ollerton, from 2.00pm until 4.00 pm - a very attractive and interesting parkland venue.

The day will finish off with a celebration ceilidhe at the historic Retford Town Hall, starting with entertainment from the dance teams from 6.30 pm, pie and pea supper at 7.30pm, followed by a dance-till-you-drop ceilidhe until 11.30 with the Rag, Tag and Bobtail Band.

•     Daytime events are free (apart from car park fee at Rufford).
•     Tickets for the evening event: £8 (inc supper) from team members, email 30dukesdandy@gmx.co.uk or ring 01777 711601.
•     For further details, please visit the website www.rattlejagmorris.org.uk/dukes-dandy-clog .

We hope you will note this in your diaries and hopefully find time to come along to the day's colourful events. There may be some opportunites to join in and give it a go!
