A new council pay and display car park has opened in the Waterdale area of Doncaster’s town centre.

Chamber Road Car Park, next to Doncaster Council’s new civic offices, will offer 42 pay and display spaces, eight spaces for disabled motorists and a number of official bays for approved council vehicles and visitors to the new civic offices next door.

The car park will be open Monday to Saturday from 8am to 6pm and offer users short and long stay parking. Access to the car park is along the new Chamber Road off College Road.

Mayor of Doncaster, Peter Davies, said: ‘This new surface car park will offer additional parking for visitors to Waterdale and Doncaster’s Civic and Cultural Quarter. This will be particularly important as the new developments start to open and the area benefits from an influx of new visitors.’

In 2011, the former 850 space southern multi-storey car park, now called the Civic Quarter Car Park, reopened following a £2.5 million refurbishment. Later phases of the Civic and Cultural Quarter (CCQ) project could see the site of this new Chamber Road Car Park turned into a multi-storey car park.

The CCQ regeneration scheme has been led by Doncaster Council and its development partner, Muse Developments. The project is part funded by the European Union, as part of the European Regional Development Fund.
