Yorkshire Care Equipment has been serving the local community with mobility solutions for decades, and is delighted to be celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.
Tristan Hulbert now manages the day to day running of the company but it has always been a family affair where Yorkshire Care Equipment is concerned. Tristan’s uncle originally worked for the founder of the company, a family friend, who sold the business to the Hulbert’s in 1995 due to illness. The family then went on to buy a second branch in 1996 and today Tristan, his father, brothers, uncle and cousins all work together to ensure the two shops in Harrogate and Leeds maintain the high standards established 40 years ago.
With the mobility shops covering an area that includes Newcastle, Lincolnshire and beyond, the company has steadily grown over the years and now has three sides to the business: retail, project and assessment. Yorkshire Care Equipment sells a wide range of mobility equipment from bath lifts and therapy pools to beds, scooters, wheelchairs and stair lifts. The largest section of the business however is seating with rise and recliner chairs, care chairs and bespoke seating solutions some of the most popular products. Yorkshire Care Equipment even won an outstanding achievement award from one of their suppliers, Kirton Healthcare, who provides the shops with various products from its seating range. Tristan commented: ‘We were absolutely delighted to receive the award and have always enjoyed an excellent relationship with Kirton. We find their chairs to be very good quality and well made but they are also a very helpful company to deal with.’
The project division of Yorkshire Care Equipment focuses on larger jobs such as installations of overhead hoist systems and specialist baths. A new member of the team, Bob Oliver, has been appointed for this division as well as physiotherapist, Padraig Finn, who will assess the specific projects. Tristan added: ‘Business is encouraging and the markets seem positive at the moment. I think we are lucky to have different sides to the business so we are not just selling to one audience, which helps. The dedication of our team is what really keeps us going though and we are extremely grateful to everyone for their fantastic support over the past 40 years. Here’s to the next 40!’
