Doncaster’s very own time machine is celebrating its Ruby Anniversary.

As Doctor Who celebrates its 50th year, Doncaster Council is celebrating 40 years of journeys through time at Doncaster Archives.

On Wednesday 4 December the authority will mark the 40th anniversary of the appointment of the borough’s first professional archivist – an occurrence that effectively established Doncaster Archives.

An exhibition of images showing the history of Doncaster Archives and documents from within the collections will be held between 2pm and 4.30pm, at Doncaster Archives, on King Edward Road in Balby.

Councillor Bob Johnson, Doncaster Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Tourism, said: ‘Doncaster Archives offer a real treasure trove of documents relating to our town’s long history and can take people on fantastic journeys through time. It has offered a great service to the borough for 40 years and I hope people take the opportunity to find out more about its work.’
