The Doncaster Dragons have modified the Fireball 500 lottery and replaced it with the simpler format of a 50/50 weekly draw, where 50% of the net takings goes to funding the Dragons Rugby Development Programme in the Doncaster Primary Schools, and 50% is paid out in prizes.
Local businesses are donating additional prizes (meal vouchers etc), with winners to be drawn alongside main draw.
On the 15th of July the Dragons held their first ‘on the road draw’ at the Wheatley Hotel, and the Doncaster Dragons Lottery Manager, David Margrave, was very pleased with how it went.
‘The night was an overwhelming success, and was enjoyed by all. A big thank you must go to Paul Marshall, the landlord of the Wheatley Hotel,(pictured centre), and 50-50 weekly lottery agent Lee Blagden, who sold 50-50 weekly instants on the night, that raised an additional £100’.
To show their thanks for the hospitality shown, the Dragons presented the Wheatley Hotel with a framed signed shirt . A return visit has been agreed for August when their will be several players in attendance, who will be available to answer questions and to sign autographs.
The Dragons are on the look out for venues to hold the 50-50 weekly draw, so if anyone knows of anywhere, preferable a pub or a club, please don’t hesitate to contact David Margrave at the club on 01302 370666, or his mobile on 07761800595, or email the club at doncasterdragons2001@tiscali.co.uk
