Doncaster Council and the Woodlands and Adwick Community Partnership are encouraging children to stay healthy and ‘break into a sweat’ at Adwick Leisure Centre. The Council is offering free activity taster sessions including dance aerobics, circuit training, a football tournament and spinning classes.

Young people in the area wanted something to do on Friday evenings, and so worked with the Council, the Community Partnership and the North Doncaster Development Trust to come up with ideas for fun activities. Fitness sessions proved to be the most popular idea.

Councillor Eva Hughes, Cabinet Member for Children and Public Health, said, ‘Doncaster Council works closely with young people to make sure that there are plenty of enjoyable and fun diversionary activities on offer on Friday evenings. Schemes like this offer young people the opportunity to stay healthy whilst socialising in a safe environment.’

Young people aged from 11 to 19 are invited to come to Adwick Leisure Centre and ‘break into a sweat’ from 6 to 8pm on Friday nights. Sessions are every Friday for the next six weeks. For more information please contact Doncaster Council on 01302 862493.
