Doncaster library reference books are now just a click away! Doncaster Council is launching its new online library service, allowing library members to log on to a range of reference works and encyclopaedias even when libraries are closed.
Glyn Jones, Cabinet Member for Human Rights, Equalities and Culture said, ‘Doncaster Council’s new online library service provides fast and easy access to library information. As more and more Doncaster residents embrace the Internet, this offers a gateway to an exciting range of library resources any time of the day.’
Online titles include the world-famous Encyclopaedia Britannica, with special editions for children and students so help is always at hand for homework assignments. The ultimate source for words in the English language and a massive collection of 170 reference titles will be available through the Oxford English Dictionary and the Oxford Reference Online.
Library members can access musical knowledge from Bach to the Blues at Grove Music Online, and the entire history of art with Grove Art Online. Doncaster residents with businesses can now access the new British Standards Online and consult any British Standard from home.
No computer, no problem - anyone without a computer at home can get access through the 385 free-to-use computers available in Doncaster libraries. Information about gaining computer skills can also be found for those new to the web. Library members can log on through the Doncaster Council website at www.doncaster.gov.uk/onlinelibraryservices using their library card membership numbers.
