A local student has proved hard work really does pay off after successfully completing a Doncaster Council led educational and training programme.
Following an unsettled time at secondary school, sixteen-year-old, Daniel Henson, signed up to the PRE - 16 Entry to Employment Programme (E2E), a flexible programme of learning that helps prepare students for a variety of future opportunities, before securing a place with Bentley Training Centre in January this year.
Daniel’s determination to succeed, combined with an eagerness to gain a recognised qualification in Brickwork, has ensured the former Trinity Academy pupil has recently completed the course - just six months after his start date. Daniel received continued support to develop his practical and employability skills that assisted in building his self-esteem and confidence.
Daniel has since successfully attended an interview for an apprenticeship with Doncaster Council and is looking forward to starting his new career move in July. He said: ‘I have really enjoyed my course at Bentley Training Centre having learnt how to build walls and use all different kinds of bonds and different styles of brickwork. I am very pleased to have gained an Apprenticeship with Doncaster Council and I would not have achieved this without the support of Pre -16 E2E and Bentley Training Centre staff.’
Cabinet member for Educational Attainment and Strategic Investment, Councillor Chris Mills, concluded: ‘Congratulations to Daniel. His achievement is a credit to the PRE - 16 E2E programme and training scheme that provides Doncaster’s young people with unique and valuable skills to improve their own educational and personal development.’
