More than 1550 visitors headed to this year’s Unity in the Community event – and enjoyed fun in the sun.

The event, organised by Doncaster Federation of Tenants’ and Residents’ Associations and supported by St Leger Homes of Doncaster, was opened by nine-year-old Blythe Roberts of Cusworth.

There was fun for all the family from face painting, play buses, a bouncy castle and street entertainers to demonstrations from marching bands, Irish dancing and majorettes.

There was also a variety of information stalls from St Leger Homes of Doncaster – the organisation that manages around 21,000 homes for Doncaster Council - representatives from the voluntary sector, Doncaster Council, South Yorkshire Police, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue and other partners.

Brian Naughton, Chairman of Doncaster Federation of Tenants’ and Residents’ Associations, said: 'It’s been a fantastic day and I’m sure all of our visitors enjoyed themselves. Besides having fun, visitors could also find out about a range of services available in Doncaster. Thanks to everyone who came along and made the day such a big success.'
