A night of glitz and glamour was had by all at the Doncaster Chamber Business Awards last week and Success Doncaster clients were high on the agenda picking up awards in five of nine categories.
Solutions 4 Cleaning gained two awards at this annual event, the business was awarded the Customer Service Award and employee Gosia Szymt was awarded the Exceptional Contribution Award for her exceptional work after being nominated by bosses at the company.
I-Education won the Innovation Award. This business develops educational games introducing students to a different method of learning.
Launched in 2006 by Steve Holt and Michael Wilkinson, the company has grown through the development and publishing of educational products for pupils, schools and corporate clients.
Aspiration Doncaster, part of the Success Doncaster network of support, initially helped the company with its wage subsidy scheme enabling them to employ a new member of staff. The company now has seven employees, two non-executive directors and a network of sales people.
Yorkshire Wildlife Park picked up the award for Performance through Partnership. The Wildlife Park has been supported by Invest in Doncaster and has received support in applying for grants and planning applications. In return the popular tourist attraction has helped the Invest in Doncaster team by hosting the launch of Doncaster’s Tourist Information Guide in May.
Anglo European Express business owner Gary Winterman picked up Entrepreneur of the Year award. The business provides a road haulage and transport service, based at Hanger One at Robin Hood Airport’s Business Park. Anglo European has been supported by Success Doncaster’s Take Off at the Airport team who have worked with the business over the last six months and assisted them with marketing and promotions and have helped introduce them to key contacts.
Having won several awards in the last year, business woman Rebecca Taylor was in the limelight once again. Her business, The Original Lash and Nail Bar won the Success Doncaster start-up Company of the year award.
This award follows a hugely successful year for Rebecca after she became the youngest person in the country to start a business in a shopping centre.
Councillor Jonathan Wood, Cabinet Member for Business and New Enterprise, said: ‘The Doncaster Chamber Awards was once again full of excellent results for Success Doncaster clients, a fitting reward for some real local business talent.’
