Situated right at the heart of the Dearne Valley, Old Moor is a wonderful place to come and watch wildlife. The skies, fields and open water are teaming with wildlife throughout the year. There are lots of events, guided walks and family activities, as well as home cooked food in the cafe. The reserve is a great day out for young and old alike.

All activities are free, but our reserve entry fee applies to our events - £4 adults, £2.00 children, and £8 family ticket. Explorer backpacks and binoculars are available to hire. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Tuesdays 3rd and 10th - Tuesday Tales – join our professional storyteller for tales of wildlife and wonder in the heart of our nature reserve. Then why not explore the reserve to see what bugs, birds and pond life you can see, followed by a snack and a drink in our cafe. Suitable children of all ages.
Wednesdays 4th and 11th - Wild Wednesday – Our most popular holiday time activity. Join us in the classroom for nature themed craft activities, go pond dipping on the reserve with a wildlife expert, or simply enjoy being out in the fresh air in beautiful surroundings.
Thursdays 5th and 12th - Thursday Thinkbomb – New for Easter! Have you ever wondered why birds have different types of feet? Why do bats go ‘splat’? How do butterflies eat? Come along to the reserve and find the answers. Our team of nature enthusiasts will be on hand to give short talks and demonstrations.
Fridays and Saturdays 6th , 7th, 13th and 14th and Sunday 15th
Open classroom – our classroom will be open for self led art activities. Come along and enjoy painting and sticking and gluing and doing and then explore the reserve to see what bugs, birds and pond life you can see, followed by a snack or a drink in our cafe.
SUNDAY 8th - Easter Egg Hunt – hunt for clues in our Easter egg trail across our beautiful reserve. Enjoy watching the birds doing their courtship dances and the sound of birdsong drifting on the breeze, as you solve the mystery to earn a yummy chocolate treat. New for Easter!
