On 21 May, Doncaster Magistrates convicted 12 people of dropping and leaving litter and two people for failing to clear up after their dog had fouled in the borough. It follows prosecutions brought by Doncaster Council for unpaid fines.
The 12 convicted litter bugs were:
Donna Armstrong of Meadowfield Rise, Stanley, Wakefield was fined £75.00 and ordered to pay costs of £182.00.
Rebecca Brister of Park Road, Askern was fined £60.00 and ordered to pay costs of £167.49.
Clara Davies of St John's Road, Edlington was fined £75.00 and ordered to pay costs of £167.49.
Allan Raymond Griffiths of Park Road, Askern was fined £60.00 and ordered to pay costs of £167.49.
Konig Kaliesz of Littlemoor Road, Balby was fined £75.00 and ordered to pay costs of £167.49.
Melissa McCarthy of The Crescent, Woodlands was fined £60.00 and ordered to pay costs of £167.49.
Kirsty McMahon of Riviera Parade, Doncaster was fined £60.00 and ordered to pay costs of £100.00.
Andrew Smith of Balfour Road, Bentley was fined £60.00 and ordered to pay costs of £167.49.
Leanne Shaw of Brodsworth House, St James Street, Doncaster was fined £60.00 and ordered to pay costs of £147.49.
Philip Tingle of South Street, Highfields was fined £75.00 and ordered to pay costs of £167.49.
Gary White of High Grove, Chapel Lane, Sykehouse, Doncaster was was fined £75.00 and ordered to pay costs of £167.49.
Michelle Wilkinson of Turner Street, Great Houghton, Barnsley was fined £75.00 and ordered to pay costs of £167.49.
The two people in charge of a dog that fouled and then failed to remove the mess were:
Jennifer O'Donnell of Walpole Close, Doncaster was fined £160.00 and ordered to pay costs of £167.49.
Carol Robinson of Emerson Avenue was fined £400.00 and ordered to pay costs of £167.49. The magistrates' took the view that dog fouling was a very serious offence.
All of those convicted will pay a £15.00 victim surcharge.
Councillor Cynthia Ransome, Cabinet Member for Communities, said: ‘Doncaster Council continues to tackle people who spoil our wonderful borough for other residents. This kind of behaviour is simply unacceptable and we will not tolerate anyone who fails to clear up after themselves or their faithful friend.’
‘All of these people ended up in court because they did not pay their fines despite being given repeated opportunities. Had they done so they would have ended up paying a lesser sum.’
All fines issued by Magistrates go to the court and not the council.
