Doncaster College has teamed up with Hall Cross School for the second year running to put on a 'post-16 Opportunities' day for more than 320 learners.

The event took place at its upper school site in the town centre, where year eleven students were treated to a lively, interactive day of activities and displays staged by students and staff from The College.

Dance students re-created the famous flash-mob routine that took The Hub campus staff and students by storm last month - as well as music students playing a range of instruments and singing well-known hits.

Alongside the entertainment, a canoe and other sports equipment was present together with staff from Engineering, Construction, Arts, Childcare, Catering, Creative Media, Hair and Beauty, Apprenticeships and Careers.

Hall Cross School was keen to further develop links with The College and so it was decided that this event would run again into its second year.

Angela Gibson, from Hall Cross School said, ‘The event went really well because of the detailed planning and hard work put in by The College team in advance of the event.

‘On the day itself, the staff and students from Doncaster College were superb. They were full of energy, enthusiasm and were able to convey this to our pupils. Our school hall was bouncing with noise and activity.

‘Having spoken to some of our pupils, I know The College activities was one of the main highlights of the day. It certainly raised the profile of Doncaster College and as a result will encourage more of our pupils to apply for courses there. I hope that we will be able to put on a similar event next year.’

A spokesperson from Doncaster College, said, ‘The event was a great success and we appreciate the invitation from Hall Cross to participate once again and also for their hospitality.

‘Working closely with Hall Cross was a great experience and has created links that we will both be able to build on in the future. We have had a lot of interest from students at Hall Cross and hope to see many more of them in the near future.’
