A small group of people in Retford have a passion for dance - and community dancing for enjoyment, especially - and have started to bring the idea to Retford, North Notts, as Retford Ceilidhs.

‘Ceilidh’, in Scotland, Ireland and now in England, is a term for a ‘gathering’, where all ages come together to enjoy live music and dancing. So far we have held three in Retford, the first two with Lambskinnet band and Chris Rose as ‘caller’ and the third with Pierrot and a mix of English and French dances. For this our fourth Ceilidh, Malt Whiskers will be playing and Chris Fish will be calling. We understand they a plan to entertain us with song in the breaks between dances.

For those who love dancing of any kind or have never tried, come along, join in, and we hope you will be surprised at how good an experience it can be - and get as hooked as we are! You don't need to know how to dance, or have a partner - just come and enjoy. Everyone included - age is no barrier! Families very welcome too (under 16s free!).

Date: Friday 18th January 8pm-11pm
Venue: Babworth Rd Social Club, Retford DN22 7NJ.
Bar available on site
Tickets: £5.00 each, Under 16's free.
Band: Liam Robinson Dance Band (www.minimorris.co.uk)
