Animal Management students at a local College are celebrating a special Christmas delivery with a litter of new arrivals!

The Level 3 students from Doncaster College studying at the Northern Racing College greeted five little Gloucestershire Old Spot piglets recently.

Students will be responsible for the whole life cycle of the litter and involved in selecting the piglets with the best confirmation to be taken to shows like their mother, and the remaining will be used for meat production.

A Doncaster College spokesperson said: ‘This is an extremely interesting project for our Animal Management learners who were present at the birth.

‘The students will get to design the accommodation for the animals, create a feeding plan and also visit the abattoir ensuring they have a full experience of working with pigs from delivery to meat production.’
