Doncaster Council is advising residents who currently pay their Council Tax, Business Rates or other council debts by cash at Colonnades that the cash office will close on Friday 25th January but there are still plenty of other convenient ways to make payments.

Councillor Paul Coddington, Cabinet Member for Finance and Corporate Services, Environment, Trading and Support Services said: ‘We offer residents a wide variety of payment options including online payments, monthly direct debits and a 24/7 telephone payment line on 0845 1305910, but for some residents their personal circumstances or preferences mean that they need to make payments in cash.

‘Following new arrangements introduced in April, anyone wishing to pay by cash can do so at any Post Office or PayPoint outlet throughout the country using the barcode and payment instructions on their bill. This gives residents greater choice of where and when to make a payment and helps to support local businesses, including Post Offices, by increasing footfall.’

There are over 120 PayPoint outlets in the Doncaster area alone, located in local supermarkets, newsagents, corner shops and garages. Not only are these PayPoints located in the hearts of communities across Doncaster reducing the distance which needs to be travelled to make a payment, they are generally open for longer hours and at weekends, enabling customers to pay at times that suit without being tied to council office hours. Residents can find their nearest PayPoint outlet by visiting www.paypoint.co.uk

St Leger Homes tenants who have been making payments at Colonnades can pay over the internet or by an automated telephone line calling 0845 1305910. Alternatively payment cards have been issued to all tenants which enable them to pay their rent at the Post Office or their nearest PayPoint outlet. Tenants can also make payments by phoning any St Leger Homes office.

More information on ways to pay council bills can be found on the council website at www.doncaster.gov.uk/howtopay
