Doncaster Children’s University took part in a baking competition recently and two lucky winners were rewarded with an Easter bunny master class.

Enza Hicks from Shaw Wood Academy and Sabrina Tierney, from Town Fields Primary, both schools in Doncaster, were treated to a session of making chocolate Easter bunnies.

Sam O’Brien from Doncaster Children’s University said, ‘The Children were very enthusiastic and made cakes and buns in their own time in order to enter the competition. We had a lot of entries so we divided the entries into age groups (6-8, 9-12). Amanda Gleadall, a lecturer from the Catering Department at Doncaster College, and the CU team of Linda Metcalfe and myself judged the entries and two winners were picked. The prize was a baking master class for the two winners and five friends with Amanda.’

Enza and Sabrina had great fun with their friends and really enjoyed the experience making chocolate bunnies in the training kitchens at Doncaster College and decorating the pots they were placed in.

The Children's University is a national organization that provides 7 to 14 year olds with exciting and innovative learning activities and experiences outside normal school hours.

Doncaster Children’s University is based in Doncaster College and is one nine Children's Universities based in a Further Education college. It offers opportunities to all children and young people through their schools' involvement with the scheme. Over 20 schools in the Doncaster area have joined Children's University.
