Doncaster Lakeside played host to yet another fantastic sporting event at the weekend: the final of the British Jet ski championships. This brings to a close several Jet ski events hosted at Lakeside over the summer months.
This event was organised and put together at short notice following the late decision to switch the event from Geddon Lake to Doncaster Lakeside after the success of the European and British championships held earlier.
The British final however, did not disappoint. Local girl, Emily Tucker was crowned winner of the freestyle competition and the two day event provided thrilling action for all those who attended.
Councillor Bob Johnson, Cabinet member for Business, Culture and Tourism said ‘A lot of time and effort goes in to attracting events to Doncaster and making them a success. We are proud to have brought both the European and British championships to Lakeside and have received excellent feedback from the organisers and competitors alike. These events are worth over £1 million to the local economy and continue to showcase Doncaster to a national and international audience’
It is expected that similar events will be scheduled for next year thanks to the excellent facilities, hospitality and location of Doncaster and the Lakeside. Organisers of the European and British Jet ski events are keen to place Doncaster firmly on the Jet Ski Championship circuit.
