Doncaster College Media students have been working with a local food outlet to produce a video advert to be shown on YouTube.
Andy Milner, owner of The Yorkshire Pie House, Silver Street Doncaster, set an opportunity for three TV and Film students from the College the challenge of creating an advert for his business. He offered a cash prize to the winner.
Andy chose James Lacey’s zombie themed advert as the one his business would use.
Dean Ayres, Course leader of the Level 3 Television and Film course at the College said, ‘James’s video is of an exceptionally high standard. I will always offer opportunities for TV and Film students to experience working with ‘real-life’ clients whilst on the course.’
Andy Milner said, ‘All three entries from Billy Farmer, Sarah Smith and James were of a very high standard. It was a pleasure working alongside students and staff from Doncaster College.’
James Lacey, 21 from Tickhill, said, ‘It was an invaluable experience. The opportunity to work with, the local business community is great. As a result I now have a professional piece of work added to my portfolio.’
James used fellow students and friends in his video and the £80 he pocketed for winning will help him in his next step at Teesside University studying Computer Animation and Visual Effects.
As a gesture of good will, Andy Milner of The Yorkshire Pie House will be offering a 10% discount for all Doncaster College students with a DC student card.
