St. Leger Homes is working with private landlords across Doncaster to bring empty properties back into use.

St. Leger Homes' Private Landlord Service offers property owners an experienced team of housing professionals who will take the hassle out of letting and managing homes. If the property has been owned by the landlord for at least a year and has been empty for six months, funding of up to £12,000 may be available from Doncaster Council to bring it back into use.

The service also helps local people who are looking for an affordable home to rent which is guaranteed to be in good condition. They can be confident that the building will be maintained in a safe, comfortable condition, because St. Leger Homes will only let out properties which meet these criteria.

Private landlord Dave Shaw of Doncaster used the service when he wanted to let three properties that he owns.

Dave, who is the owner of Long Sandall based QuickSkip Doncaster, said: ‘It's a good service. St. Leger found suitable tenants for me within two weeks of signing up. I'm a busy man, and so it's good to know that St. Leger Homes will deal with any problems as they come up. Also, as someone who earns his living in the local community it's nice to feel that I am helping people by letting my house for an affordable rent.’

Deputy Mayor & Portfolio Holder for Strategic Housing, Equalities & Cohesion, Councillor Glyn Jones said: ‘This is a great scheme that is enabling us to bring empty properties across the borough back into use by giving people in Doncaster a greater choice of affordable housing options.’

Susan Jordan, Chief Executive of St. Leger Homes of Doncaster added: ‘The Private Landlord Service is increasing the number of good standard rental properties available in Doncaster. Our professional workforce and experience in managing Doncaster Council's housing stock means we are ideally suited to letting privately owned properties.’

St. Leger Homes Private Landlord Service offers a full property management service, from finding tenants and managing rent, to dealing with tenancy issues and performing repairs and maintenance work. Landlords can choose from two service packages, with management fees starting from £6.90 a week, plus a one off payment of £130 + VAT.
