Celebrity Chef, Author, and Restaurant owner Brian Turner CBE visited the Waterfront Restaurant at Doncaster College recently to help students prepare a gourmet meal for invited guests.

The event was hosted by Yorkshire Bank and during the afternoon, the Michelin starred, award-winning chef spent 3 hours in the College’s kitchens delivering a master class to student chefs as they prepared the evening meal to Brian’s own exacting standards.

In attendance at the meal was Doncaster Civic Mayor, Eddie Dobbs, George Trow, Chief Executive and Principal of Doncaster College, and
Kevin Elliot, Yorkshire Bank’s Head of Business and Private Banking for South Yorkshire along with 60 representatives of business from throughout Doncaster.

Guests were treated to a splendid meal, from one of Brian’s own recipes, of roast fillet of lamb with fondant potato, roasted tomato and green beans followed by a white chocolate and raspberry trifle.

The evening was rounded off with a question and answer session and the chef responded to questions about his career as one of Britain’s most successful and well-known chefs. He recounted amusing anecdotes from his time on BBC’s ‘Ready Steady Cook’, and ‘Masterchef’, as well as ITV’s, ‘This Morning’.

Brian summed up the day, ‘The students have worked extremely well …it’s been a lovely day. Any advice I would give them would be to be determined and enthusiastic and keep the food simple, let the product and seasoning speak for themselves.’
