Work to replace the carriageway surface on Thorne Road, Hall Gate, Waterdale and Chequer Road is set to commence on Sunday 19 January 2014.

The first phase to be resurfaced will be the section of Thorne Road between Town Moor Avenue and Broxholme Lane and it is anticipated that this will take up to five Sundays to complete. A signed diversionary route will be in operation via Town Moor Avenue, A18 Leger Way and Bennetthorpe and South Parade.

Phase two will see the Hall Gate junction with Thorne Road, South Parade, Waterdale & Chequer Road between the new traffic signals and the Waterdale roundabout being resurfaced. It is anticipated that this will take up to seven Sundays to complete. These roads will be closed for the duration of the works and a signed diversionary route will be in operation via Town Moor Avenue, A18 Leger Way, A18 Carr House Road and the A638 Trafford Way.

For information regarding bus services during the works please contact South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive travel line on 01709 515151.

Councillor Bill Mordue, Cabinet Member for Highways, said: ‘To minimise the impact on local residents, businesses and commuters we have limited the disruptions to Sundays. We would like to thank motorists in advance for their patience while these important works take place.’
