Ex-Doncaster College performing arts student, Mat Scott, has been recognised for his hard work and talent recently when he picked up a Doncaster Freemans young person award.

Mat was away working in Wales for Park Resorts as a dancer when the ceremony was held at the Mansion House in September and so he received his accolade from Ian Latham, Assistant Director of Creative Arts at Doncaster College, when he returned to visit the College.

Mat, who is 20 and from Worksop, was amongst 35 pupils to receive an award, which are given to young people, from secondary schools across the borough and Doncaster College, who have shown exceptional talent and have overcome adversity to do exceedingly well in their studies.

Mat received top marks on his course, gaining distinctions, and had a 100% attendance record and was always around and happy to support his fellow students.

Mat said, ‘It’s a fantastic honour to receive the award and I’m very proud.’
