The students, Jess Revis, 20, Shannon Wright, 19,Thomas Gilling, 19 and Sophia Dobson, 19,all on the Level 3 Extended Business Diploma course, planned and staged the event as part of their events management unit and to raise as much money as they could for Macmillan Cancer Support.
There was a vast array of attractions on show including chocolate fountain, buffet, raffle with amazing prizes such as tickets to the races and Elimis Beauty Treatments, face painting, guess the celeb, sweetie trees, Visiting Boutiques and much more!
The carnival was held in the Student common room as was very well attended by students and staff from across the college.
‘It went extremely well’, said Shannon Wright, ‘we wanted to bring all the students together in the final week of term to celebrate Christmas and end of the year, and at the same time to raise as much money as we could for Macmillan Cancer Support.’
‘As business students we wanted to help give exposure to local businesses as well’, said Sophia Dobson
‘And we are extremely grateful to a lot of businesses who have helped us and have donated prizes for the raffle,’ said Jess Revis.
Amongst local businesses that have donated prizes include Phoenix Catering, Da Vinci fashion boutique of Arksey, Lifemobility of Thorne and The Glasshouse at Kirk Sandall, who donated a meal for two and a bottle of wine.
‘We’ve enjoyed it and It’s been a good process and should help us all when we go onto university,’ said Thomas Gilling.
They hope to raise £250 for Macmillan from today’s activities.
