Doncaster Council’s Countdown to Christmas is in full festive swing as people flock to the town centre to soak up the seasonal spirit.

Among the festive attractions over the next few days include a full market day on Friday, various performances at Cast – including ’59 Minutes to Save Christmas’ - afternoon tea at the Mansion House, a panto at Doncaster’s Little Theatre –and all the special Christmas Eve masses and carol concerts at the town’s many churches.

Councillor Bob Johnson, Doncaster Council’s Cabinet Member for Business, Tourism and Leisure, said: ‘There is so much this year for people to enjoy in the thriving town centre we have here in Doncaster, whether you want to take in a show, do your Christmas shopping, enjoy live music, enjoy a festive treat or soak up the atmosphere with a wander around the town centre.

He added: ‘I would encourage people to take a trip to the town centre over the next few days to see what the town offers.’

The calendar over the next few days is as follows:

‘Mad’ Friday, December 20
Full Market Day - 9am to 4pm.
59 Minutes to Save Christmas - Various times at Cast.
Afternoon Tea in the Mansion House – 12pm to 4pm.
Christmas Organ Music - 1.10pm at Doncaster Minster
Dick Whittington and His Cat panto – 7pm at the Little Theatre. Mid-afternoon until late.
Connection choirs - 7.30pm at Doncaster Minster.
Live music from the 48Ks, Jack's House, Lika, State and The Image - 8pm at The Leopard
Cast Comedy Club Christmas Special with Seymour Mace & Ben Davids - 8pm at Cast.
Live music from improvised band the Caskettes - 8.30pm at Cask Corner.
Live music at various other town centre venues.

Saturday, December 21
Doncaster Choral Society entertain the market shoppers, Doncaster Markets.
Festive entertainment on the streets including the Doncaster Salvation Army Band, town centre streets.
59 Minutes to Save Christmas -Various times at Cast.
Children's Christmas crafts workshops -10.30am and 1.30pm at Knit & Stitch (01302 366022 to book).
Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol – a dramatic reading -11.00am and 2.15pm at Cast.
Festive Fairground Organ -All day next the Markets Christmas Tree outside Primark.
Town Crier’s special festive Christmas proclamation – 12pm at Clock Corner & the Markets.
Dick Whittington and His Cat – 1pm & 5pm at Doncaster Little Theatre.
Cinderella - 2pm and 7pm at Cast.
Live music from the Tim Green Band and Fallen Trees - 8.30pm at Cask Corner.
Live music at various other town centre venues.

Sunday, December 22
Free parking all day on street and in all Council-run car parks - all day.
Doncaster’s Christmas Crackers - Free festive family fayre in the Market Place Doncaster.
Doncaster Markets – 1am to 4pm.
Christmas Cracker gift market -11am to 4pm at Doncaster Markets.
Market Halls extra opening day - 11am to 4pm.
Cinderella - 10am and 2pm at Cast.
Christingle Service - 4pm at Doncaster Minster.
Christmas Carol Service – 6pm at Christ Church.

Monday, December 23
Market Halls extra opening day - 9am to 4pm at Doncaster Markets.
59 Minutes to Save Christmas - Various times at Cast.
Cinderella - 2pm and 6pm at Cast.
Dick Whittington and His Cat – 7pm at Doncaster Little Theatre.

Tuesday, December 24
Full Market Day - 9am to 4pm, Doncaster Markets.
Dick Whittington and His Cat - 2.30pm at Doncaster Little Theatre.
Cinderella - 2pm and 6pm at Cast.
The traditional Service of Nine Lessons and Carols - 3pm at Doncaster Minster.
Carol Singing, followed by Mass - 7pm at St Peter in Chains RC Church.
Midnight Mass at Doncaster Minster at St Peter-in-Chains.

Christmas Day
Free parking all day on street and in all council-run car parks.
Join with the family of town centre churches - Doncaster Minster, St Peter in Chains, Hallgate, URC, the Unitarian & Free Church, Priory Methodist Church, St James's Church, Doncaster Baptist Church and Christ Church.
