Doncaster Council and South Yorkshire Police are reminding people to keep their valuables safe over the festive season.

This can be as simple as making sure that all house doors and windows are locked, so that would-be thieves do not have easy access to dwellings.

It is also a reminder to lock cars when out and about and not leave valuables on display.

Mayor of Doncaster, Ros Jones said ‘Christmas is a special time for everyone and the upset and loss of a burglary would be devastating. There are simple steps people can take to ensure that their valuables are safe and not on display, and not giving thieves a ‘gift’ this Christmas.’

Recent patrols by Council and Police Teams have found worrying numbers of cars unlocked in the town centre, which is why a ‘back to basics’ approach is being encouraged.
