Doncaster has been successful in making it in to the top 10 of a Financial Times awards list including Edinburgh, Bilbao and Liverpool, commending its strategic approach in attracting foreign investors to the town.
The Financial Times, Foreign Direct Investment Index (FDI index) is a leading industry recognised publication analysing the performance of European towns and cities. Doncaster was judged against over 180 locations of similar size to be to be ranked 10th in the FDI Strategy Awards which scores suitability of European locations for attracting investment from overseas companies.
Councillor Bob Johnson, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Growth, said ‘We are delighted with such a result in an industry leading study. Doncaster has seen significant inward investment over recent times attracting businesses like Amazon and developments like the IPort to the area thanks to our proactive attitude and unrivalled transport links in the UK. That makes us very attractive to investors and has been recognised by the Financial Times.’
