Doncaster College student Elle Ling has created a design, which is to be used to promote a charity concert at Doncaster Minster.
The design was commissioned by Doncaster Rotarians on behalf of the famous armed services charity Help for Heroes.
Elle, a student on the Interactive Media Level 3 course, was asked to produce a design that could be used in both a banner and a poster format to promote the concert featuring the Yorkshire Volunteers Band and Corps of Drums.
The concert, on Saturday 22nd March, aims to raise money for Help for Heroes and to present, Lance Bombardier Ben Parkinson MBE, with Rotary International’s highest award of a Paul Harris Fellow.
In a letter to Elle, Ben Parkinson said,
‘The originality of your design is absolutely commendable and without doubt takes into account the basic factors of the Help for Heroes charity, which is essential to promoting help for injured service personnel and their families. The information on the poster made available to the general public, is imperative in creating awareness of the charitable event which is critical in raising funds for Help for Heroes.’
Elle, who is 16 and from Branton, near Doncaster, found the brief to be challenging but very rewarding and when she has finished the course at Doncaster College wants to go on and do Graphic Design and Animation.
A Rotherham Company, B&B Press, kindly offered their services in printing the posters and banners, which can now be seen throughout the town centre.
