Judges were spoilt for choice, recently, when awarding the Professional Recognition Award, at Doncaster College. So they selected two winners!

For their loyalty, dedication, hard work and patience, Lewis Evans and Michelle Agate have, between them, become the eighth recipients of the Professional Recognition Award, awarded by Doncaster College to its staff.

Lewis, a Technician in Carpentry and Joinery, in the Academy of Advanced Technologies and Michelle, Higher Education Careers Advisor, have won the award for the spring term and were presented with their award by George Trow, Principal and Chief Executive of Doncaster College.

Lewis, who likes to be called Lou, has worked for the College for over twenty years
and nominees said of him, ‘His work is of an impeccable standard as he is a superb craftsman paying fine detail to the finish and quality of his work. He is often working on several projects at the same time to meet the demands of the Academy and the College.’ ‘Lou is a very valued member of the Construction team and deserves to be recognised as such.’

Nominees said of Michelle, ‘the whole team respect and appreciate Michelle’s support and hard work. She provides a brilliant example of customer service and of how to remain professional whatever happens, ‘ and ‘it’s clear how much she cares about meeting clients’ needs by the extra work she takes on to help them. Michelle without fail will always offer support if she can, whatever the problem.’

The Awards are now in their third year and go from strength to strength. They were launched in late 2011, to recognise the professional contribution that staff make towards the work of the College. The award is given 3 times a year so a member (or members!) of staff will be honoured once a term.

Staff are nominated by at least 5 colleagues from different areas of the College. The College’s Executive team then views the nominations and decides on a winner.

Their prizes include vouchers for a meal at the College's award winning Waterfront Restaurant, and for the College’s Inspire Hair Salon.
