Regional heats of the prestigious Johnstone's Young Painter of the Year were held at Doncaster College recently,

The competition is a prestigious painting and decorating competition, which celebrates young talent, promotes best practice and encourages young people to pursue a career in the decorating industry.

Doncaster College has one of the best painting and decorating workshops in the country so it was no surprise that the regional heats were held at the Hub campus.
This year’s winner came from Leeds College of Building and the runner up from Barnsley College.

Launched in 2005, the competition consists of a series of regional heats and a national final and assesses students painting and decorating skills.

Winners of the regional heats are invited to take part in the National Final later this year.

The overall winner will receive a package of prizes worth up to £2000 and will be crowned ‘Johnstone's Young Painter of the Year’.
