Wild flowers will be brightening up the borough's highways this year.
Doncaster Council has seeded in 3 locations within the borough: the central reservation along White Rose Way, the roundabout near B&Q off Woodfield Way and the wide verge adjacent to Town Moor Golf Club along Leger Way. Different varieties of wildflowers will be used to suit the different locations.
Councillor Bill Mordue, Cabinet Member for Highways, said: ‘We're trying something different for Doncaster and hope that residents will enjoy it. Although lots of preparatory work is needed before planting, they help us reduce our carbon footprint since they need no mowing. As well as looking fantastic, the wild flowers will also help encourage wildlife.’
The flowers should start to bloom in early July.
