Residents are being encouraged to sign up for British Cycling’s Sky Ride Local programme in Doncaster.

The popular programme of rides, guided by trained British Cycling ride leaders, kicked off on 15 June with events taking place all over Doncaster Organised by British Cycling and Sky, in partnership with Doncaster Council.

Sky Ride Local offers local people the chance to join organised, guided rides of varying distances and difficulties – ranging from ‘easy going’ spins around picturesque parts of Doncaster through to ‘steady’ and ‘challenging’ rides, for those seeking a little more adventure.

Steve Peters British Cycling’s Recreation Manager for Yorkshire, said: ‘Cycling’s never been more popular, and whatever your age or fitness level, it’s easy to get involved. We’re delighted to be working with Doncaster to make it even easier for local people to get out on their bikes and have some fun this summer.’

Bob Johnson, Cabinet Member for Leisure, said: ‘With the Tour de France coming to Yorkshire this summer there’s a real buzz around cycling. I would encourage riders of all ages and abilities to get involved in Sky Rides in Doncaster.’

The next rides coming up are:

Sunday 29th June at 2.00pm Tour of Brodsworth Steady

Further rides will be announced through the summer and autumn.

Sky Ride Local is just one of many ways British Cycling is encouraging people to get out on their bikes this summer. Register to take part or find out more at goskyride.com.
