The College’s Hub campus recently hosted an International Workshop for the MOBILE (Mobility in Learning in Europe) Project, which is funded through the European Commission and runs from 2013-2015.
Partners involved in the project include Germany, Italy, Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Sweden all with the aim to improve European work exchange experiences for young people and to provide dedicated training and support for teachers and enterprises.
The project takes a holistic approach in developing training material, and covers enterprise skills, language, intercultural awareness, social, communication, and employability skills. The International Workshop was attended by visitors from Engage Training, Sheffield University, Harrow College, Barnsley College, Doncaster International Partnerships Association, Plover Primary School, and Doncaster College teaching and support staff. Attendees took part in an interactive workshop, allowing for an exchange of ideas and experiences from all participants, which will feed into the materials to be developed during the project.
Doncaster College currently sends approximately 15 students abroad on international work exchange each year. These experiences give students global employability skills, broaden their horizons, develop self-confidence and independence, and improve intercultural and interpersonal skills.
