Doncaster Council’s Cabinet has approved consultation on a proposed multiagency early help strategy, designed to help children, young people and families get the support they need to improve and make the most of their lives.
The Team Doncaster Strategic Partnership proposed developing this to identify family issues earlier and work with families to help solve issues before they become an even greater problem in the future. By investing in early help services, this ‘nip it in the bud’ approach will mean children, young people and families get the help and support they need quicker which should mean it is more effective, cutting down the need for social care and costlier services. This will also help save money and ensure resources are directed in the most appropriate way.
Director for Children and Young People’s Services, Eleanor Brazil, said: ‘This strategy and model represent a true partnership between a range of agencies working to improve the quality of life of young people and families in Doncaster. By tackling issues early and with the wealth of services on board, we can offer more targeted help and support so we get that right for young people, children and families first time. Making a difference to the lives of our younger residents is essential so this approach is a real step in the right direction.’
