Doncaster College has recently completed filming at the National Great British Taekwondo Training facility over in Manchester. The purpose of the filming was to capture player and coach development material, to be used by the National Team in their elite athletes programme.

Student, Jack Watling from the Level 3 TV & Film course at the College was given the opportunity to go along with course tutor Oliver Reeve to film a specific set of techniques and scenarios for the Manchester based squad.

The time pressures were extremely realistic for Jack, as he had to come up with a way of capturing all the angles of the movements almost in real-time to ensure the athletes’ performance was not affected by the filming. Between Jack and Oliver, they were able to capture 60 minutes of footage over a 2 hour period provided.

National Team coach, Stephen Jennings was very impressed with the setup Jack and Oliver created and the time in which they completed the filming. Craig Richardson from Great British Taekwondo Development was highly appreciative of the work that The College has put in.

Following this successful Taekwondo partnership, Doncaster College will be hosting its first
International Taekwondo Camp this summer. The event will take place over three days starting on Tuesday 12th August and will include top European instructors delivering a unique programme.

This is an event not to be missed and for more information about attending the event please visit the event Facebook page www.facebook.com/ITCSummer2014
