It’s not long until the busiest week in Doncaster’s calendar – this is absolutely huge for the borough’s economy and growing tourism industry.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up about potential media opportunities that are coming up to give you time to plan. Have a look – I’ve picked out some really interesting stuff for you. More details and content – photos, interviews etc. available on request.

Late August/First week in September - Launch PR: ‘Nottingham can keep the Sheriff!’ - The theme for this year’s festival is… ROBIN HOOD. We have an exhibition at Doncaster Museum and Art Gallery looking at Doncaster’s claim to Robin Hood and we will be asking visitors to take part in a fun vote on whether we should reclaim Robin.

Friday 5 September - Virgin Balloon ride - There is a potential opportunity for media to go up in a hot air balloon over Doncaster, starting at Cusworth Hall.

Saturday 6 / Sunday 7 September - British Jet ski championships     Photo/ filming opportunity at the Lakeside

Saturday 6 September - Knightcon - Thousands expected to attend this movie vehicle event featuring Optimus Prime, bat mobile etc.

Monday 8 September - Edward Miller concert - Performance of a piece by Eighteenth Century composer Edward Miller who played in Handel’s orchestra.

Tuesday 9 September - Ted Hughes Trail     Guided walk looking at Ted Hughes’ Mexborough - ‘Dinosaurs of the British Isles’ book signing at the Mansion House - We believe this is the only such book covering this subject!

Wednesday 10 – Saturday 13 September - Ladbrokes St Leger Festival - Four days of fantastic racing culminating in the world’s oldest classic horse race. This is one of the biggest racing events on the globe.
