Friends of Tickhill Mill Dam teamed up with Doncaster Council for a two day environmental clean-up.

A deep cleanse of the area was undertaken which included replacing missing stones sets, cleaning and treating the wooden benches and handrails as well as the re-painting of the metal railings around the perimeter of the pond.

The local Area Team was also on hand and they wasted no time in getting stuck into weeding around footpaths.

Councillor Cynthia Ransome, Cabinet Member for Communities; Street Scene; Environmental Protection; Waste and Recycling, said: ‘The Friends of Tickhill Mill Dam are one great example of Doncaster’s many hard working groups of volunteers who have taken some responsibility for looking after a much loved part of their community.

‘They have recognised that they can make a very real difference to Doncaster and I hope that they will inspire others to work with the council to improve areas which are there for us all to enjoy.’

If you would like advice and support for arranging a litter pick in your community please contact your local council area team on 01302 736000.
