New Cast residents, Music in the Round, break the mould this week with an innovative fund-raising appeal.
The company is offering audiences and supporters the chance to buy a bar of music from the world premiere of influential composer Charlotte Bray’s Shadow Game – which will take place at Doncaster £22m new venue, Cast on 8 February 2014.
Listed as one of the Evening Standard’s ‘1000 most influential Londoners,’ Charlotte has composed the piece especially for performance by young and amateur musicians and four professional soloists at Doncaster’s new £22m venue.
Shadow Game will be performed by Music in the Round’s resident musicians, Ensemble 360 alongside Doncaster-based amateur orchestras Beechfield Youth Orchestra and Boyce Chamber Orchestra - making a total of over 70 performers on Cast’s main stage.
The concert will also include Brahms’ Academic Festival Overture played by Beechfield Youth Orchestra, Elgar’s Serenade for Strings played by Boyce Chamber Orchestra and Beethoven Septet played by Ensemble 360.
Perfect as an unusual and unique Christmas present, a bar of Charlotte Bray’s score can be bought for £10, and buyers will receive a photocopy of their bar, a paragraph about the work, and a thank you note after the premiere as a keepsake.
All proceeds raised will go towards Sheffield-based Music in the Round’s work with young and amateur musicians.
To buy a bar please contact Tracy Bryant on email@example.com.
